Please reach us at info@collaborativeworkways.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We work primarily with small to medium sized-companies, with teams from as few as 6 people up to 15 people at a time. We also work with individuals seeking personal consulting services to develop sessions that clients can deliver themselves.
Yes! We can come to you and deliver workshops and training sessions at your chosen location. or, If you prefer, we can arrange a venue that you choose such as in the case where the session is intended to be an off-site meeting or retreat.
Great question. The process begins with a call with key stakeholders that decide what it is your organization needs to achieve. This needs analysis can be accomplished relatively quickly, but it can take more time if the goals of the workshop are more complex. We partner with your subject matter experts to learn the intricacies of the type of work that you do. After that, we begin a design cycle to incorporate pertinent information into our course design template. When it comes time to deliver the course, we suggest that one or more subject matter experts attend the session to field questions that may require a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
There's a lot explain in order to answer that question, but here it goes:
Our philosophy of delivering a successful workshop or training session involves a non-traditional approach to designing a meeting or training agenda . Traditional corporate training is often accomplished on a computer with very little thought given to how we take in information and assimilate it into our memory. In-person meetings are often listening to tedious lectures and involve following bullet points on a screen. This creates passive participants who can easily mentally "check out" and disengage. We believe this isn't the best way to learn new material, or connect with others to create a cohesive work environment. We believe companies should also consider how well participants can apply the information to their work and personal lives.
Our method incorporates the best of many adult learning theories and includes them in the design of session activities to make better use of the time spent in a session. Our method not only includes the subject matter material, but it combines learning along with developing collaboration and teamworking, a sense that each participant is a valuable contributor, and a sense of engagement, i.e., our approach to meetings and training sessions can be enjoyable and engaging.
Our sessions typically consist of short "mini-lectures", then participants are asked to take that information, analyze it, and discuss with other participants. These discussions can be with one-on-one, small groups of three to four people, or larger groups. This is where collaboration, discussion, working together to develop answers, solutions, ideas and new perspectives with the information given. The facilitator then solicits responses and interactive discussions around the material. Then participants are ask to demonstrate understanding and ask them to apply the knowledge in various ways. The method is very participant-driven and experiential.
The "psychological atmosphere" in the room must be kept generally supportive and positive, but not in a coddling or insincere manner. The facilitator ensures that participants stay on task, guide the conversation toward goals and objectives, and work to prevent the atmosphere from going off-topic or into negative territory.
People learn best when they are relaxed but alert, are free from the stress of embarrassment, feel valued, and supported. Our philosophy is that people working together will always develop better solutions and ideas that no one person could develop working alone.
By developing this type of environment, participants tend to develop a sense of well-being, desire to participate, willingness to provide input and camaraderie.

Our sessions are usually set up to allow for participants to easily interact with each other, so tables are set up in groupings when possible. We also sometimes use posters containing subject material, as well as some art posters to help create an inviting and relaxed atmosphere.
